New stay-at-home orders, new opportunities for Meet

Looking into the reality of this extended "Stay-at-home" Covid-19 pandemic can be depressing for teachers and students. We miss the connected learning we have in the classroom. I've been taking some strides to help our connected-ness as a little learning community.

I am working on a new format in Google Hangouts Meet to increase the interaction time for my TK students. We had our third (or fourth) meeting today and I can see a good pattern developing. For now I will have daily (or almost daily) morning meetings, some virtual field trips, individual family and small group meetings as needed.

1. Students are learning to work the app more independently

2. More parents are able to log in and participate

3. Parents are nearby and monitoring, commenting.

4. Students are sharing, turn-taking, listening to others

5. We don't have a full class (or even 50%) yet, but meeting flows with a good pace.

6. Recording the calls and sharing out through my district youtube channel.
